Accidents:
|
must be reported by quickest means possible to law enforcement authority closest to scene, if bodily injury is involved.
-- if property damage estimated at $1,000 or more, must be reported within 72 hours

ATV:
|
ATVs modified with snow lags/traction systems may ride on snowmobile trails if it is registered as a snowmobile.

Open water:
|
may not ride on any inland body of water that is free of ice and/or snow. If snowmobile is submerged or partially submerged, owner must remove/retrieve within 24 hours (Fine $1000). |
Noise level:
|
if snowmobile built after 2/1/75, not to exceed 78 decibels at 50 feet on the A scale |
Lights:
|
front must cast a beam 100ft. directly in front of the sled
Rear lamp must display a red light visible 100ft. rear of the sled

Landowner Liability:
|
none if used by others for recreational purposes. Pass at your own risk.

Abuse of Property:
|
if intentionally cause damage, such as, but not limited to destroying a fence, leaving a gate open, destroying or trampling trees or crops-you are liable to landowner in civil court law.

Insurance:
|
as of yet, Maine does not require mandatory liability insurance coverage on snowmobiles. Be smart-protect your assets-accidents don't make appointments to happen. We encourage liability insurance for all snowmobile enthusiasts. |
Operating under Influence of Drugs or intoxicating liquor:
|
1.) Person 21 years of age or older, having .08% or more by weight of alcohol in that person's blood.
2.) For a person less than 21 years of age, having any amount of alcohol in the blood. |
Minimum Age to Cross a Public Way:
